Temperature Help

hey all, im setting up a new plastic tub setup for another stimmi i am getting soon....

im just running some tests before i get him and wanted to pass these temps by some people on here....

i have the heatmat under the tub and am getting a reading of 37.5 when the probe is directly on the astro turf (under a cardboard hide) that i have in the tub..... however the ambient air temp is 26.8 with the probe lifted a few cms off the ground (on top of the cardboard hide)

the cool end is a steady 21.3..... so im not worried about the cool end or the gradient

all temps are steady.....

just wondering if the ground temp will be too high, as the ambient temp over the hot end is still what i would call reasonably low.

what do people think?

If you find he isn't using the hide maybe you could just cut a square of turf or cardboard to insulate it a bit more from the heat mat. That'd drop it degree for sure.

thanks cris!

i currently have the probe sitting outside the hide directly on the turf and that is reading 31, so its just in the hide where it is getting warm....

he will have a warm hide and a cold hide anyway to thermoregulate with......
