thats right another question! breeding?

hay guys i was a wondering if you could list the easyest small lizards and frogs to breed.

im looking for basically anything small that doesnt need and incubateor or massive enclosures or hight levels of husbandry things like spotted marsh frogs ect. and any info on where to get info on breeding them from would be fantastic.

thanks muchly
hooglabah

My advice to you Mr. Hooglabah, is not to pick a species according to the ease of breeding it but to pick a species you like and put in the necessary research to breed it. You will get far more joy and satisfaction from it than just buying something that is as easy as my first wife.

Frogs are a lot of work, i'd give them a miss. Bluetongues are easy to breed and give birth to live young.

I think most reptiles will need an incubator in order for the eggs to be successful.
And i agree with africancichliadua, you should choose what you prefer.

the only option i have then would be to sell the snake i have and buy 2 bredlis wich id rather not do im trying to start a pet shop but need to learn enough about the animals i will sell and i hate cats and dogs so im opting for a reptile/amphibian specialist that also sells some rodents (pets and food frozen ofcourse) mustelids. ive bred rats (not hard lol) and im currently waiting on ferrets but i need something to be a staple (trying to aviod fish) so basic non licence requireing reptiles/amphibians are i believe the way to go

its the only job where i can get all the things i love and live off it as well gotta love what u do

Shouldn't you get a bit of experience before starting your own pet shop? For example, work at your local pet shop?

circular problem they want me to have more expiriance working in pet shops befor they will hire me.

ignore that last reply i posted btw it doesnt make much sence.

i think the issue really is they hire young kids cuz they are cheaper to hire me being 20 would cost to much.

not to mention the level of care for the animals is barely legal so i wouldnt work there anyway let alon buy an animal.

I think you are jumping the gun a bit here, the amount of time that goes into the husbandry
of any reptile or amphibian is great, to perfect the breeding process takes time and intimate knowledge
of the creature you are trying to reproduce.
The thought of trading in non licence animals limits the amount of species to a minor few
and limits trade.

If you want to own/run a pet store you should do the Animal Care course at TAFE first - it covers pretty much everything you need to know from caring for the animals to managing the store.

personally i don't see why you would need to breed to have the experience required to run a petshop... if you had experience keeping various reptiles wouldn't that give you more relevant experience in term of the day to day workings of a reptile pet shop?

Cheers,
Ish
