Thanx tweety, I actually rang up and asked them to hold 30 for me to pick up this weekend. It's a long drive but they'll last us a while! Plus they're only 60 cents each which is pretty good. They have 2 day old ducks as well apparently...I want to try one cos we want to see what different foods he can keep down and what he regurges but I love duckies

Wow Wrasse thanx!!! That could definitely be worth a try . I might try and pm him and tell him about Nymph's probs and see if he thinks it could be the same thing. He does all of those things (won't eat - but will now take chooks, regurgitates and is bloated but doesn't really lay on his side) but he also does the weird neck thingy and kinda squirms his stomach like it's uncomfortable. I've been thinking for a while that maybe I should post up on an american forum to see if anyone over there has heard of this type of thing, especially the neck thing....I might try to do that in the next few days too. So you can use an avian probiotic on a snake? His antibiotics are injected so does that mean that he could have the probiotics at the same time?

Good luck Cheryl, I hope Monty pulls through for you

Yeap, I use the probiotic at the dose rate I mentioned (1gm mixed with water to 1kg bodyweight) on my snakes as needed. As your antibiotics are injected, start the Probiotics as soon as you can get your hands on a tub of it and continue, as per Julius's instructions.

Well we got Nymph out on Monday night to give him his injection and I looked at him and straight away said to the other half "Oh my god.....where's the lump?". The lump he's had in his stomach area for so long (his actual stomach wall is swollen) was almost hard to find! I couldn't believe it...I found it fairly quickly after that cos it's still there but it was nowhere near as obvious . The injection that night didn't go as well cos I think I might have gone into the muscle instead of under the skin and the next day (yesterday) the lump seemed to be more obvious again. I don't know if maybe it was just wishful thinking on my behalf or if the antibiotics are helping him already but I'm excited cos I feel more positive about this treatment now . I might call the vet today and see what he thinks about giving Nymph probiotics at the same time as his antibiotic injections. Maybe they even sell it there or can get it in quicker for me
