and the fact that i can get access to free wood, i was toying with the idea of knocking together enclosures and selling them if not giving away the enclosures to the people who cant really afford the 200 bucks or so for an enclosure from a petshop ect, any ideas how to police it so people dont take advantage of it, |

but, i am sure there are alot of people who will still try and take advantage of your kind gesture. |

this is an expensive hobby, if you cant accept the money side then you shouldnt be doing it.
i dont think free enclosures are a good way of encouraging new handlers at all, its encouraging to do things on the cheap, and your aiming at people who dont know any better, or choose to be ignorant to costs involved
if you can afford to build enclosures for near nothing, dont try to play good samaratin and give them away to inexperienced people who cant afford to do things properly. most likely your doing more harm than good.
donate your skills, or build to order, certainly if you have an interest in building enclosures your allowed to pursue it. i only hope you are an experienced keeper yourself who fully understands all the needs of a good enclosure. because even many of the expensive pet shop ones get it wrong. and if you get it wrong too, you have encouraged and offered poor housing.
its a big responsibility your asking for in my opinion.

I am too a security guard and ex cabinet maker. the best thing i ever done was learn how to use malamine chip bord material but also worked with solid timber. i also have done artificle rock work thats a good one if any one wants out door encloser's..... and its not expensive and better for the animals welfare. i dont have out door enclosure's but one day i will when i have my own home......
cheers steve.. | | | |
