and they have lots of feeder fish, and gold fish and stuff to eat when ever they want.
how many snakes do you have??
when i had over 15 at one time it took me less then an hour on feeding day, they only crap once every feed. I have alot less now and it would take me no more then 15 min a week keeping them good!!
I only had one turtle so i guess i cant really say much about them, mine lived with a mertens maybe he was the one that made it seem like alot of work!

i have a few snakes now. but because i choose not to handle them just for the heck of it. i spend alot of time watching them as well. so that was included in the hour. after i change there water. i sit back and watch them come out to see what i have done. that is the way i like to interact with them.

My best mate and I are planning on moving in together once she finished highschool. At that time I'm allowed as many reptiles and I want as long as she can have her own wallaroo or sugar glider so if I was to get a turtle now, I could get a snake later on.
How fast do turtles grow? Would it be best to get a 4ft tank right away that would hold them for a long time before upgrading to a 6ft or 8ft when they are adults/ make a pond outside or should I just get the 2ft started and go from there? Will they outgrow the 2ft in a short time?

Man I'd love one but mum won't let me. I'm only allowed my frogs, my beardie and then a snake/turtle. I don't really like that beardie. He's very snappy and hates being touched but mum loves him and my dad would be hurt if I sold him because he was an xmas prezzie.
I'd rather have a snake in the 4ft beardie tank and then turtles on top of that!

2 foot tank will last em for ages mate.
i have a 4 foot tank and it houses a 2 yr old murray and 2 6 month old saw-shelleds. hang on i will find a pic.....

ok. found some. not the best. it was before i decorated it. has a few plants now. and lots more fishies to eat. but they are bulldozers. they wreck everything. they dig the stones everywere. and tehy make a mess. i can spend 20 mins making it all look nice . and it takes em 1 hour to wreck it agian.

Lol that would annoy me! I'm so big on making enclosures look nice. You should see my frog tank! It's so overboard with a little waterfall and tons of branches/leaves/vines and little fish in the water section.
I'd want to do the same with the turtle tank. Spend ages on it and then when friends come over I'll be like "Oh crap they've wrecked it again!" Haha.
But I think I'll go with the turtles. Is the pet shop price of $110 expensive compared to private? I don't want to freight.

Thanks so much for all the help Mel. Appreciated.
