No not a stupid question.
But will let you answer it for yourself.
What is the advantage to the animal to be living in the same enclosure as another animal.
Keep in mind that size difference of two snakes could lead to an expensive meal for one of them, obviously the bigger one.
If one animal gets sick, how are you going to save the other before it is infected.
So with that in mind, the only advantage to keeping two animals in the same enclosure is purely for the person involved. i.e. less cost.
But the disadvatages are pretty steep if things do go wrong.
That is just the risk you have to decide that you are either willing or not willing to take.

Many snakes can be (although there is always a small chance of an "accident" happening). I have two spotteds together. There are some snakes however that will eat other snakes

I have kept 2 MD's in the same enclosure for the past 18 months, they are 2 years old now, and still try to snuggle up together in the same hide! They are always together somewhere in the enclosure, hardly ever apart. If not in the hide, they twine around each other at the end of their branch!
