What would you all recommend for an effiicent UVB light for bearded dragons in a 5x2x2 aquarium. I was tihknnig of one of those MV lamps, but would they get too hot?

I've always used uvb fluoro tubes without any dramas. Never used the globes though. The key thing to remember is that they only emit uvb for about 10-12 inches... so have plently of branches to climb on.

Bob,
A 100 watt Oz bright MV globe would work well in your enclosure for the beardies.
Alternatively if you would like to use a separate heat and UVB source then I would suggest the new Compact max 10.0 UVB globes and a ceramic heat emitter, at least that way you can regulate the ceramic with a thermostat.
