varanus varius pics

just snapped these pics of my lacey during feeding it was supposed to be that anyway but in the 30seconds it took to get the camera she had already managed to swallow a rat which was quite large for her

its a 4ft fishtank shes still only small im going to put her in an outdoor one soon but im just letting her grow a bit because im worried about birds trying to eat her

roughly 30cm SVl she looks bigger in the pics because of the zoom on the camera

what do people recommend as a good size enclosure that will last her a couple of years?

3mx6m would be a good size IMO, basically as big as you can provide. 2 X their length in width and 4 X their length in length is a reasonable minimum that i have heard someelse suggest.

They are very intellegent animals and usually roam long distances in the wild. IMO you should aim to have them in an enclosure that they dont try and escape from.

yeah thanks ill measure how much space i have tomorrow 2mx3m should be possible is mesh fine to use because i have heaps of steel boxtube here? i wish i kept the aviary i had at my old house it would have been perfect
