Vents

Hi, jst wondering what type of vents are best to use. I want round and rectangle but the only round one's I've found are snap in. Would a python be able to push them out?

Is there anywhere else to get them besides hardware stores?

If you drill a couple of small holes in the snap ins they become screw ins

i have used liquid nails with my rectangle and round vents and have found them extremely hardy, the wood actually came away when i tried to remove one.
this does mean they are permanent unlike with screws

I have wooden enclosures, where the vents go there is a hole cut into the enclosure, then two plastic vents are fitted, one inside and one outside of the same hole. I have round vents in the bottom of the enclosure and rectangular one up top. The circular vents have one flat side and one with flanges. The flat sides face out so if the snake pushes against them, the vents just get pushed further into place. The larger rectangular vents are screwed in as an added precation. The vents are all made of plastic and were purchased from bunnings.

Or you could just drill holes into the enclosure in a stylish pattern..

Alloy drain strainers from the wharehouse, the type that sit in the plughole to stop crap going down. 50 cents each.

N2D mentioned awhile ago about the usage of sink strainers as vents ( I found the post :wink. I thought the idea was awesome and I have used them on my new enclosure. Considering some of the plastic ones cost you $3 or so for an equivalent size, these are pressed stainless steel I got for $1.25 each from Bunnings (Unfortunately I was in a rush so I didn't get the 50c ones ) Plus, these look pretty cool I reckon

Gawd moose, Can't believe you remembered, then found the bloody post

They look good indeed mate Am I to assume this is merely a step up in size, rather than enclosures for new snakies?

edit: Just noticed which cage it is in the top pic.. Coming along!! Is there an eta on completion??

Sometimes my memory is spot-on deadly sharp, and othertimes I even forget who I am It's a bit of a worry

And yeah, lol.. no new snakies arriving! However, I still reckon I could squeeze in another in there without anyone noticing

Is that anyone in particular?
I really like the idea of the sink strainers too, I'm in the process of building a 6 pack of enclosures amd any idea that saves moneyX6 and looks cool is a good idea.
