Hi,
I noticed yesterday that my maccie is making a very faint wheezing noise when she breathes. Its really quiet and only happens on either the in or out breath (haven't worked this out yet). Her enclosure set up etc hasn't changed in the last month or so. Does anyone know what this may be, and should i be worried?
Thanks |

Don't overreact to it but don't ignore it. Keep an eye on it for a couple of more days and if you think it's getting even slightly worse head to a Vet. It may be nothing more than the natural little hissy/whistle (don't know how to describe it) that they tend to make.
Greg.

I'm with greg don't get to worried if it's really faint, some snakes do make a hissing sound when they breath, but i have only seen this in adult snakes.
Bump up the temp a couple of degrees to be on the safe side.

My python makes a sort of sighing sound (of frustration) when I don't let him go where he wants too (like underneath the house slab). What's ur snake doing when u hear it?

Mine also makes a slight hiss every now and again - probably more noticeable due to the fact that the snake is getting bigger. I hadn't ever noticed it before, but I have wondered when they start to hiss at an audible level - I was holding a 3yr old Brisbane Carpet awhile ago that spent the whole time hissing in my ear - I think it was trying to tell me to get more snakes LOL

The noise seems to have stopped, and she ate fine yesterday. But I will keep an eye on it anyway.
Ive got the temp on 26C and am going to get another heat lamp asap and keep it at 28C (damn winter).
Thanks for all your advice | | |
