And i have bought a glass tank, and a fluro light, and a heater light, and a warmth mat. Now i want to buy my first snake. i like the looks of water pythons, i dont know why. But 2 things got me thinking. 1 they r a pretty cheap snake, does that mean there not a good pet or not good in some way, and 2 it said there snappy. The water python would be a QLD one and from http://reptile.senet.com.au/ , they say water pythons can be snappy? so what im tryin to say is are water pythons good pets, and would they be good for a starter.
Otherwise i was goin to opt for one of those blueish murray darling pythons or a coastal python. |

Any snake you choose can be snappy. The best guide is to handle the snake first before you buy it.

Usually good feeders as well. They are also very easy to care for. Havent bred them so I can't really comment on that, but I am sure other members can help you out on that. If you get a nice quiet one, it will be hard to find a better snake IMO. |

If anyone is interested he's doing really well but I still have to undo the knot he ties himself in sometimes.

| | | | You should have no trouble calming them down, My smallest were snappy for about or three months, now they are sweeties, but my sub-adult female is a psycho snake and tries to kill me whenever i enter my room |

That really hurt but childreni, you know, what the hell. But after you have been bitten a dozen times in one session and the little bugger still wont calm down its time to go upstairs. Pullthe teeth out of your hand and organise to get rid of it.
See your snake befor you buy it. Pick it up and handle it. that way you shouldnt end up sorry.
