What field guides do people use?

For NSW I use "A field guide to Reptiles of NSW" by Gerry Swann, Glen Shea and Ross Sadlier. ISBN 187706906-X

Attachment 41461

For a complete guide "A Complete guide to Reptiles of Australia" by Steve Wilson and Gerry Swann. ISBN 9781876334727

Attachment 41462

Wilson & Swan aswell as 'Encyclopedia of Australian Animals - Reptiles' by H. Ehmann. I also like the overseas guide to geckos 'Keeping and Breeding Geckos' by Hermann Seufer.

Wilson & Swan is good for reptiles, but doesn't cover frogs. Pictures are a bit small, and on occasion not representative (i.e. has some spectacular animals rather than common colour morphs). I think there is a revised edition forthcoming (if not out already). Wilson & Swan seem to have replaced Cogger (now retired).

Im currently debating wether to buy the "A Complete guide to Reptiles of Australia" by Steve Wilson and Gerry Swann
or the "A field guide to reptiles of queensland" by Steve Wilson.
Wish I could see them to choose which one to buy from the descriptions and other info they give, but no joy out here.

I you live in QLD, then go for the local QLD guide. It is a good book. If you plan to herp outside of QLD, then you will need both.
