In my opinion, a 2½ foot tank is too small.
You could use it as a temporary holding tank for a hatchling, but I would advise a bigger tank as a permanent enclosure. But, by permanent, I mean only for the first couple of years. Once the turtle is big enough, I recommend moving it to a large outdoor pond.
