On my Holiday to the simpson desert I found this Yellow gecko. I let him go again but not before taking a video. These are some pics from the video.
I am just wondering if anyone knows what breed it is, if you can buy them, how much they are and if they are easy to look after.

It looks like Underwoodisaurus milli (Barking gecko) but not sure of the range for them. Geckos aren't my thing though :-)

If it was overseas I would say it was a Leopard Gecko.

Definately a thick tailed gecko. They occur in the Simpson Desert (obviously) with a distribution across most of southern Australia and NSW.
Ash they are very easy to keep and breed, usually cost about $100 each. I've got 5 of these guys at the moment and they are great.

If you found it in the Simpson desert it's either Underwoodisaurus milii (yes, the central Australian ones are quite different from the southern and eastern ones) or an unusual Nephrurus levis. The tip of the tail would be a dead give away. It looks like milii to me. Where exactly were you? U. milii doesn't get far into the Simpson desert as far as I know.

Yeah I agree Sdaji - the tail gives it away as a U.milii... In my opinion, these guys make the best first gecko :-)

It's a frog.
Nah just kidding, thick tail.
I've never seen one that yellow before, but anything is possible.

Yep, I've seen them in captivity much more yellow than that one, but 90% of the ones for sale (yes, literally ) come straight from the wild from locations in Victoria and NSW and don't look as good. Easy to breed, clutches of two eggs (usually), you can breed them at one year or so of age if you push them. Sexing them is pretty easy once they've grown a bit. It's difficult to describe in text, maybe someone can post pictures.

Like most dragons, the easiest way to sex these geckos is to look for the two smaller hemipenal bulges in males (towards the tail from the vent) and the single larger bump in females.. They have to be mature to use this method though otherwise they all look like females :-)
