The info below is from the latest edition of A complete guide to reptiles of Australia by Steve Wilson ad Gerry Swan. Pogona vitticeps:
Usually pink mouth
1-2 rows of long spines along flanks
Row of spines along back of head is usually straight Pogona barbata:
Usually yellow mouth
Many rows of long spines along flanks
Row of spines along back of head is usually curved backwards

| | Regular Member | Join Date: Jul-06 Location: mornington peninsula,vic Age: 33 | | | | easterns are usually longer and sleeker,they can cross breed but why would u bother,temprement wise easterns are very shy compared to the outgoingness of the centrals,and stress easyer,i love both types though,and have a soft spot for easterns,not sure what it is but yeah i kinda like the personalities of easterns,but pet value wise centrals have it all over them
its prety easy to tell the difference between them once u see varietys of both,dont think that easterns are just grey either,ive seen extreme yellow and even orange easterns,they are quite variable |  | |
