What's the difference?

So...I want to know what the noticable difference is between pogona vitticeps and pogona barbata. Is there an easy way to tell? Also can these two species be cross bred? Thanks

There are numerous reasons why you shouldn't cross breed them.

The info below is from the latest edition of A complete guide to reptiles of Australia by Steve Wilson ad Gerry Swan.

Pogona vitticeps:
Usually pink mouth
1-2 rows of long spines along flanks
Row of spines along back of head is usually straight

Pogona barbata:
Usually yellow mouth
Many rows of long spines along flanks
Row of spines along back of head is usually curved backwards

Hope that helps,

Stewart

easterns are usually longer and sleeker, they can cross breed but why would u bother, temprement wise easterns are very shy compared to the outgoingness of the centrals, and stress easyer,i love both types though, and have a soft spot for easterns, not sure what it is but yeah i kinda like the personalities of easterns, but pet value wise centrals have it all over them
its prety easy to tell the difference between them once u see varietys of both, dont think that easterns are just grey either, ive seen extreme yellow and even orange easterns, they are quite variable
