I hear about 10-15% of a hatchys body weight is a good meal, also that it should leave a "just noticable" lump in the snake. many say that rat pups are more nutritious and reccomend using these asap.

lol. bit bigger, also have fuzz. this is one to ask the more experienced members. dad would know but its a bit late to ring him and ask. would depend (a bit) on the size of the snake, although they can take larger meals than you'd expect. if its a good eater it might take rat pups within 3 months or so, like i said, id have to ask dad, not certain.

In my opinion, no carpet python species (Diamond, Coastal, Jungle, Bredli etc) should be on pinkies. Start them on weaners/fuzzies. Pinkies are all mush, not much too them.

I agree with sxe, i once gave my bredli a pinkie, and she wanted more about an hour later, fuzzies are the way to start i think, and if you give it something too big, it wont take, or will bring it back up, so go big, you'll soon know if it is too big.

Well I have to agree with Sxe (see I do agree sometimes lol) I always endeavour to start my hatchis off on Fuzzies at least. I do however keep pinkies on hand when I have Hatchies for those"just in case" Times. Generally speaking carpets will be able to take a smallish fuzzies easy.

it's easy to know when to stop feeding the snake as well jimmy, as the snake will just leave it alone, pretty sure their stomach isn't bottomless |

Soulweaver - most snakes will gorge themselves on food if given the opportunity to do so. They are opportunistic feeders - if the food is there, they'll eat it, because they don't know when their next meal will be.
