Worm-rid

Just orderd some Worm-Rid from URS and was jsut wondering if anyone else as tried it?
I've heard some good reports and it seems like a safe easy way to worm snakes rather than buggering around with panacure and stuff.

It's a tough question to answer as theres lots of different opinions. It also depends on what your using, i think it's best not to worm unless you have a problem but saying that i worm my snakes about once every year or so just to be safe.
If your feeding thawed rodents it's alot less likely your snakes wil have a worm problem.
I think worming every 6 months is going a bit overboard, doing it that often it's hard to say what effects it could have on the snake. I have seen snakes that have been over wormed and it ain't pretty. Snakes always have wroms and live happily with them and it's only when they have an outbreak that it's causes problems.
Thats where this Worm-Rid could be a real benefit it's been developed for snakes has also be developed in Aus. Alot of the other womers are made for cattle and other animals.

The easiest way to tell if your snake has a worm problem is if they have runny stools or obvious worms in the stools.

That was just quicker than writing down the many problems that can occur from over worming, e.g liver faliure, brain damage, nerve system(unable to move properly), loss of strength, stop eating, thats some of what can happen, what i've seen.

I thought that it was self explanatory, when i said "it ain't pretty" i thought most people would figure out that i mean't it wasn't good.

NoOne, did you mean that administering too much of a worming solution at one time could cause these effects or did you mean worming too frequently could cause them?

Both as alot of wormers that people use are made for large animals they a very strong and a small miscalulation could cause damage.

Anyway has anyone tried Worm-Rid? It's only fairly new i think.

Just got some from mates pet shop. Have to say dosage rates are heaps easier than wormout, though they both have praziquantel in them. Only have to use .4ml per kilo, saves a lot of hassle.
Junglerus has used it before with no adverse effects, has been around for at least a year and a half, came in around time I stopped managing old shop and haven't heard any complaints.
cheers

Qu:craig :just wondering, how do you know when to worm your snakes? do they rub there bum on the ground like a dog? just kidding, but how do you know when to do it? :

In dragons the signs to say they have worms are...thinning out in the abdomen, evidence in stools (ew i said stools) bones show at the base of the tail, more ravenous than before eating habits, sometimes they can look distressed if not treated.

Thanks meg, i heard about it a while back but couldn't find any info on it, Tim at URS has been testing it for 6 months or so and said it works really well but i wanted to hear from people who weren't selling it.

if you freeze mice for about 60 days it will kill all the parasites in them.
