Most common way to catch them is through live/freshly killed food. If you are feeding frozen/thawed food it's fairly unlikely.

Having said that I worm mine yearly with Worm Rid injected into their food with a needle

My advice would be to worm your snake when its young while its growing..... I'm not sure whther you can do it yourself but a vet will do it for under $50 (in my experience)..... and don't let anyone tell you that they don't need to be done cos unfortunately we had a death with a 6mth old Tree Snake because of worms......

I don't know how they get them can anyone answer that? I'd assume its to do with coming into contact with another snake that has them.....

Actually they dont need to be done unless they have worms in the first place and dont let anyone tell you different.Best to get a vet to test for worms,if a positive result them worm them if negative why bother?

All pets (and humans) should be wormed regularly including reptiles.
worms can be picked up anywhere - even putting your herp out on the grass.
it depends on what animals have had contact with that area previously. some parasites can live in soil/grass etc and wait for animal contact. water that is not boiled first can also contain a lot of parasites as well.
You often wont know that the reptile has worms so better safe than sorry
(Im studying parasitology this semester and its making me paranoid )

Considering I've got a medium sized and expensive collection not to mention they are my pets and I love them dearly I'm going for the whole better to be safe than sorry thing......

I would consider worm treatments a must if you are keeping multiple reptiles in the same enclosure. If one has worms you could guarantee the other will.
