Worming tablets for snakes?

Just wondering if there are any available? How old should a snake be before they can be wormed?

There are no tablets, Just fluid medications. You can worm your snakes as early as you like. The dosage depends on the weight. Easiest way is to inject the medication into a meal. I was taught today how to directly worm a python involving looooong tubes and syringes. We only had to do this for our non eating python, the rest will be injected into the rodents they eat.

You can buy Panacur from a produce, When you get it, call your local herp vet for dosage rates and buy a syringe from them, or a chemist and do it yourself. Not sure about your vet but ours was happy to physically do it. We took our Panacur down with us and he showed us.

RE: Worming tablets for snakes?

hey craig just grab yourself some reptile science worm rid, all of the instructions are on the side you simply get a syringe (without a needle on it) and inject the correct dose into the mouth of the food item, then feed the snake and it is all done

A bottle will run you $11 and you can get a whole syringe and needle kit for $7 a lot cheaper then a trip to the vets just for worming, more practical to

Take care
Matt

Just a hint for NSW people dont even attempt to get syringes from chemists,i tried a hell of alot of chemists to find out they only will exchange not sell.If you have a regular chemist who knows you you may get some but IMHO dont bother just go straight to vets or order online.

cheers popp

wormout bird worming paste is avilable at most vets. It is effective against
tape worm and most other worms; as panacur will not work with tape worm. The doseage is 1ml per kg

WE routinely use one of three products:
Vetafarm Wormout Tablets , Vetafarm wormout Gel - both available from your vet or direct from www.vetafarm.com.au
Moxidectin plus - available only from some vets or directly from Colin Walker, Knox Street Veterinary Clinic in Victoria.

My personal choice is the latter. All are used at the recommended bird dose rates on the label.
