|  | Subscriber | Join Date: Jun-05 Location: Sydney Age: 43 | | | | I always hold the snake (with tongs) so that the head is the closest to the snake and they therefore tend to strike at the head and then coil. It doesn't always work but most times they are fine.
However, I had a snake that ate backwards for many many years and it never affected it. |

Can I also suggest that you try to reduce the amount of times that the snake easts whilst smelling your hand. You dont want the snake associating the smell of your hand with food especially as it will also be a heat source. it can take some time to "unassociate" |

|  | Regular Member | Join Date: Dec-06 Location: brisbane | | | | i have a snake that doesn't seem to recognise a rat unless its moving it knows there is a rat around and will seach every where for it climbing all over it for hours still looking. i have to dangle the rat jiggleing it for it to take it. he was 2 years old when i got him and i dont know if he was fed live food or not but will one day he just know what a rat looks like and take it or will i have to keep hand feeding him forever. he is quick too gotta watch the fingers |
