Noticed in some forums that people are complaining (okay maybe not the right word but you get the jist of things) that we (victorians) can keep crocs but not parenties, leaf tail geckos, boyds forest dragons...n so on and so forth. When the licensing was brought in to keep native wildlife (not sure wat year it was), licenses were written up on the basis of what people in the state were already keeping at the time ie: there was one captive crondo in a private collection in victoria therefore they were put into our licensing, same goes with crocs n such, so if it wasnt in a captive collection before the licensing then it wasnt included on the permits schedules. Im not 100% but i think the only way we would be able to keep the same stuff as other states LEGALLY, the permit laws would have to be revised...hope this clears some things up for newer herpers....THIS IS NOT A CONCRETE EXPLENATION BUT IS GOING ON WHAT IVE HEARD FROM A FEW EXPERIENCED HERPERS, tried looking online but i cant find any documents on the topic
Cheers
