I used to keep a few, they are extremely easy to care for. The only problem is feeding as it can be hard to find enough small lizards to keep them going. Larger specimens can sometimes be weaned onto pink mice. Basically give them a basking spot and a place to hide and that's all there is to this species. They are expert escape artists though so the cage must be very secure (no small gaps). They will readily eat frogs so it would probably help alot come feed time if you have a breeding colony of Marsh Frogs or another species that is easy to breed.
When i did WIRES rescues etc i had a few call outs for "brown snakes" at Glen Alpine that turned out to be Whip Snakes. All of them died within a day as they had been attacked by cats or dogs. Pretty little things.
Barney, i've been searching for ages to try and find them, in NSW there are 8 people with 14 specimens between them If you happen to find some could you drop me a PM?
