    blind snake

well from time to time people bring in critters they fid in the yard or home asking what they are. more often than not the critters are half dead or all dead, like the decapitated white crown snake or a chwed out lizard of some sort. but today i got to see somwthing amazing.
a blind sanke, and it was unharmed too!, one of your sales reps brought it in with them this morning, she had found it in her house and her daughter was terrafied of it.
it was about 6 cm in length and a pinkish greay colour, and you could see it guts under its scales/skin. we decided to let it go in the garden as it would have died in her car. but it made my day. and would have to be the first ever blind snake ive seen in realy life.
unfortunatly i did not get a photo of it, as i only had my crappy cheep mobile phone with me at the time. but it was also very shiny.
any one got any idea what species it could have been?
all i know is that it was a bland snake.

telling one blind snake species from another is very difficult, generally you need to match the head scales and snout shape.
However Ramaphotyphlops proximus is one of the most common and widespread blind snake in eastern Australia

They sometimes give off a liquid that is really bad. I generally don't mind bad smells but one encounter with a blind snake had me gagging. I think it took four washes with Detol(?) to remove the smell
