Sometimes a snake will choose to rest in its water bowl if there are insufficient suitable hides in the enclosure. Mites, skin irritation, full belly, high temps and "cos it can" are also reasons they may choose to stay in their water bowl.

My other mate's big Olive loves to submerge in her water too with either her head or just her nostrils sticking out.

I recall Rob saying his coastal used to surface for air then duck back down and slowly blow bubbles.

I know everyone will have a story but one of my hatchies did it recently. First thing I thought was mites and started freaking out. Then I realised I'd just knocked the tub too far onto the heater and it was just getting a bit too warm. So if it's not a regular swimmer maybe have a look that temps aren't getting high for any reason

All of mine love the water and regularly go for big swims under water holding their breath for a minute or more.....but you would never really see this unless they have a very large waterbowl or aquarium

They certainly won't drown unless they cant escape the water and eventually get exhausted and drown

My BHP will get in the spa for a swim occasionally, but my Darwin will stay submerged for hours. She loves her water.

Like others have said some snakes just enjoy being in the water. My Water python certainly does

The pics of her in the tub were to help her with a bad shed, I have a coastal that hates water so putting him in a tub of water is a bad idea but this girl loves it. The other pics are when I had a friend over and I was cleaning out the tub Lilly used to live in. I put her water bowl on the table and she slithered in there and swam around for about half an hour.

In this day and age, why do people still believe everything they see on the TV and read in the newspaper? You can learn some very interesting things when you learn to think for yourself!
