Olive python hatchling 5 month old not eating

It is probably good your olive isn't eating as your temperatures must be too low with the heat sources you are using. Encouraging snakes to eat when they are too cold can cause death as the snakes metabolic rate is too low to digest the food fast enough, before the food putrifies. The wattage required to provide the required 30-35C will depend upoon your location and the ambient temperature. Dont atempt to feed your snake until you are sure its temperature ( not somewhere in the cage) is 32C. An investment in an infrared themometer would be useful, particularly whilst setting up your cage, and subsequent cages. I am not sure how you judge if a snake enjoys to play but perhaps it seeks out the body heat of the playmate as that is the warmest thing around.

Totally agree..also, why people want to handle and play with their hatchies before they have them properly established eaters is beyond me..

Congratz on your bubs but i agree leave the handling till the temps are right and the feeds are consistent. What do you mean by it enjoys being handled and getting sprayed?
