    Sick Green tree frog Help???

Hi all, we have this frog that almost looks as thought it's insides are coming out it's bottom, this has happened before but as we have 5 frogs I am not sure if this is the same frog or a different frog... At a guess I would say it is the same frog, last time it slowly resolved it's self over the course of a couple of days, this time though it looks like more is out.... I have taken a photo to show you what is happening, any ideas suggestions or solutions, have you seen this before?Click image for larger version.

Prolapse. Plus it's kinda thin, don't think this frog will make it.

Take it to a vet mate.

Thanks, that helps hnn17, makes sence, what do you think the vet could offer? We don't exactly have a local vet, as we live rurally I'm not sure how much the local vets would know (I will call in the morning though)... I read and saw that it could be low on calcium, which we can address easily enough our selves but I wonder why it would only happen to the one, we have 5, could it be genetics???

Sorry to say this condition is very rare and your just unlucky to have it happen to one of your GTFs, but it is extremely unlikely the frog will survive in such condition. A native wildlife or reptile specialist vet would have trouble treating this and a domestic animal vet would probably be guessing as to a cause and treatment. You'd be best to euthanase the specimen rather than risk a slow and painful demise. All the best with your other four frogs.

There is an article by sxr where they treated the prolapse in gtp by putting it in a sugar solution to reduce the swelling and then push it back in. But looking at that photo it appears there are too much stuffs hanging out to try that, plus the frog's poor condition...

OK, the thread was reopened for other reasons. That aside. I am really curious to know if the frog has experienced any further prolapses and if not, what have you altered in the care of of it that may have affected this tendency?

    Hi Blue

Frog recovered from this particular prolapse, and has since had a small one that fixed itself in about 12 hours, generally health has been ok, started using gut load regularly for the calcium but the menu stayed the same, still open to suggestions if you or anyone else has any.
