Hi guys and girls!
As many of you might know, and for those who don't, on Saturday I purchased my very first Stimson's Python. Very excited I was, but that quickly did a 180 when I noticed what looked like a retained spectacle and some dry old skin.
Very cautiously I bathed him a few times and tried to remove this skin, with the help of a few members on this forum but nothing worked.
So today I took Mezz down to Karingal Vet Hospital to see Dr Shane Simpson, to my surprise Shane told me, after some water on the effected area, that it wasn't actually skin at all but adhesive of some sort!! Thinking about it now to looked like masking tape adhesive left over when the tape had been removed!? I don't know what it was but I'll be calling the place where I purchased him from and giving them a polite heads up!
So after we put some sort of skin safe solvent on him it was removed! VERY easily I might add! And I've got eye drops for his eye!
Felling a hell of a lot better now. Least I know he's going to be ok, and can actually start to settle in, I was worrying about handling him so soon, but he's active, not hiding all the time and very placid. I will leave him for a few days and try feeding him for the first time!
Many thanks to Dr Shane Simpson at Karingal Vet Hospital, great guy, highly recommended.
