It's not too difficult to make one, just find (or buy) the size of polystyrene that you need for the background, then paint it with methylated spirits (to make it go all lumpy). Then after the meth is dry you can brush glue onto it and stick on a thin layer of sand, then paint it, or just paint it without the sand. But you should brush glue on anyway before the paint so it sticks better and the reptiles can't scratch thepaint away and get to the polystyrene.
Or if you want a more complex background, go here: http://www.captivecollareds.co.uk/page_326791.html |

what you do is depending on the dimension of rock you want, there are plenty of different types and methods. you can use cement and oxide which is just making up a slurry of water and cement and then throw oxide powder on to give color and also you can throw natural sand to give texture. thats manly for out door. in door and light weight would be best using sheet of rubber 3mm thick , then with a hot blow torch curve your shape by melting the rubber over wet rocks etc without piercing threw. then apply bond crete or etching so then you can paint the slurry on mixed with oxide and sand. also dont do this inside as it will make a mess. you can get these products at color cement supply's and render supplies . they should also supply bond crete. bunnings might also supply im not sure but its not hard to do. and if you want you can also seal your fake rocks with a sealant to protect and easer to clean with out sand crumbling off.
cheers steve.
let us know how you go......

it is very easy to do
This is from an old thread of mine .
i used old fruit boxes , glued them together with liquid nails and put a few rods ( coat hanger ) inside some bits for extra support .
Used a screwdriver , and a lighter for getting the shape and texture ( becareful with the lighter ) .
products used :
Bondall Bondcrete
sand/cement mix
render colour ,two colours ( sand and chocolate brown )
first coat :
coat whole thing with bondrete ( mix with water, ratio is on bottle )
then coat with sand/cement/colour mixture ( for first coat i used only the dark colour ) made the mixture 2parts sand/cement 1parts colour , to a slightly runny paste .
then brushed it on the whole thing .
second coat :
repeated the same steps .
for the third and fourth coats :
coat in boncrete again , and use the sand/cement/colour mix DRY ( mix the two different colours to get lighter shades for highlights , ) and sprinkle it on by hand or a sieve .( not to thick) and pat it lightly with bondrete mix to moisten it .
when i had the rock looking the way i wanted i gave a few more clear coats of bondcrete.
it takes about 24 hours between coats .
Hope this makes sense .
first pic is what i started with .
second pics is second coat .
and The last pic is final colour just added a few coats of clear bondcrete .
