Bearded Dragon Problem

gday all,

i have a small problem (maybe)

i have 2 Beardies (Central) and the smallest one of the 2 started to try to dig in her salad bowl, water bowl and basically everything she could get into. so i put in a nice big container filled with woodchips for here to dig in. and she seems to love it. but my partner today noticed that thru her digging my little beardie has ground back all of there nails on her front 2 legs.

should i be worried about this at all and if so how can i stop her form grinding her nails on everything?

and if its not anything to worry about then thanks anyway.

...Also i am going to seperate her on the weekend as her eating has slowed down a fair bit and she isnt eating all that much.

Regards
Osk

That sort of behaviour is from stress, could be from a number of reasons, but I'd be pretty sure it does not like it's bigger cage mate. Females try to get away from males at this time of year as they don't want to constantly be harassed and of course smaller males will try to get away from larger ones at this time of year. Going off it's food is also a stress related matter. Seperation is the thing to do, make sure they cannot see each other at all.

You should seperate the larger one and leave the stressed one in the enclosure it knows.

Hello

Hello,

I agree, separating the larger one should help out quite a bit. Dominance issues usually become a problem like that, & the other one stops eating.
Also, be careful with woodchips, they can ingest them & become impacted with fragments from them.
