My heat globes and UV bulbs are all hooked up to a timer - on for 12-13 hrs per day, switched off overnight. Heat globes stay on all day, I use a pulsing thermostat, it does not turn the heat globe on and off. I don't like the 'ON/OFF' style thermostats.

I have the heat and lights all plugged into a thermo and the thermo is plugged into
a timer so the lot turns off at night.

.............Lots of people leave on their lights...dont know why ,we dont live in Antartica!
If our reptiles dont cool down...& they dont have a idea when night and day is.....they adventually wont eat properly alas a unhealthy reptile...
LIGHTS on at Dawn & OFF at Dusk.....connect all up to a timer....if you are cocerned place a digital thermometre in tank and usually at night (im in S.A..,its cooler here) it doesnt get below 16*.
PS: the only reason i leave a heat light on(not u.v) is if its hatchlings in tank (for 1st month only)
or its a hospital tank

I have my UV come on an hour after the lights, then off an hour before the lights go off too.
Make it more like real life, where the light comes before the UV dosage.

Yep - they are plugged into the same timer, both the heat globe and UV light switch on around 6-7am and then switch off at about 8-9pm. I have never used overnight heating, the weather never gets cold enough here in Brissie to warrant it.
