Beardie help

I have a question related to my beardies.. obviously

Does anyone trim their toenails ? its an odd question but mine are getting quite long and quite sharp. They only run around on soft substrate ( crushed walnut ). Id imagine they would naturally wear down a bi tin the wild from runnign around in harder surfaces sometimes.

If so.. what is the best way to go about it ?

Thanks

yeh, one of my beardies has large nails, i was thinking of going to the vet to see what they can do.
maybe lizard nail clippers, im not going to do it because of the veins etc.

i clipped 40 beardy nails on teh weekend,..(well, 2 beardys worth)
i use people clippers.

not too short though , and quickly so they dont have time to pull away.

u know how a beardys nails are kinda higher than they are wide? i position the clippers on teh wide side, ,...i guess on a 90 degree andgle to how you'd do a humans.
thats sounds weird...but i cant explain it.

umm,..crushed walnut is probably the most dangerous substrate you can keep beardies on, i almost lost my 2 to it, and alot of other peoples have become impacted and died from it.

sorry if the pics are a bit disturbing, better you see it this way than lose yours.

I too use human nail clippers, very easy to do, you just have to be careful.
Chrisreptile, do you want me to come and do blackie/sunshine's nails? It'll save you a vet bill, i do Loki & Lucius's nails regually.

yeah either people clippers or dog clippers are fine...just aslong as you done go too far down and hit the vein.Just go at it slowly to make sure you dont hit it and he should be fine, and dont bother goin got the vet it'll cost you $50 or so just for a couple of minutes you could of donme yourself

give them a more natural enclosure with sand or dirt and rock and branches and they should wear down by themselves if you do clip them be very careful as nails have blood vessels and nerves if you cut them to short it will cuase damage
