got a beardie , had him for about 10 days now.
He poos every 2nd 3rd day .
he only eats at best maybe 3 crickets, has only eaten 2 in the last 3 days.
he seems to sit about too much for a beardie and isnt very active at all.
temps are 23-27 cool end , his heat matt is on all night so min temp at night about 28 on the cool side surface. Under his sunglo lamp its about 35 degrees at head height. I mist him every 2nd day . The last 2 cx were dusted with calcium.
should I force feed him some ground pellets?
how would I do it.
should I be worried.
see photo , he is 4 inches long
could he be moulting oor something?

Hi,
Your beardie looks pretty young. They don't need to eat heaps. It is a good sign that he is pooing. Make sure that you keep dusting with calcium.
Do you put him out in the sun??
You probably don't need to mist him quite so often - beardies like a dry environment.
Is he getting up under the lamp at all? Possibly your enclosure could be too big for him and he might not know where the heat is and therefore be too cold to move around and eat properly.

You've only had him for 10 day, he wont just go and eat 8 crickets straight away.
It only a baby it wont eat heaps.

Mist him more often, babies need to be kept hydrated, they will not drink from a water bowl and therefore you need to mist them at least daily.
That crickets is way too big for him, they have tiny little intestines and need small food items as a result. That cricket is about half the size of his body!
Would be helpful to see a photo of the setup. Temps sound okay. |

Setup is not flash with a 60 x 45 x 45 tank. Newspaper substrate.
have tried a selection of vegies and regularly put out cauli , broccoli , nectarines, banana and carrot. All diced up but he seems very uninterested.
Will mist him now every day.
some people say they eat heaps , others say not much. I guess each lizard will be different?.
he is only 4 inches (10 cm long)
the cx he is fed are no larger than the space b/w his eyes and I break off the back legs / dust them.
gave him a mist bath just b4 this post , and he had another poo so this is good.
sry , but I recently had one die so my paranoia level on lizard health is high , esp since his activity level is not so high.

The cricket in the pic definately looks too big for the size of the beardie. JMO.
