Bek, what are the best vegies to feed beardies, in your opinion? What do you find they like the most?
My two are about a year old and i have a hatchy as well. The older two i have had trouble feeding vegies to, insects they devour, but they only go hard for brocolli (of the vegies i have tried anyway). The younger one is also a bit vegie fussy, but ikes brocolli, and of course his insects (roaches and occasional crickets).
ta for your help

are you sure about the broccoli thing?
| Even more so if you use a calcium / vitimin powder.
I found that by adding apple juice to the pellets instead of water seems to attract them., I could never get my barbata's to touch them until I added the apple juice. Now they love'em. Quote: |
as barbata's rarely eat greens at all
| I didn't know that - Thanks Jason. I thought mine were just stubborn. Mine seem to eat more the red coloured fruit (Strawberrys / watermelons / capsicum etc, but don't seem to be interested in the bok choys/ beans etc. Loves the live feed though.

Try www.beautifuldragons.com
They're the best place to see what's good for your beardie.
Mine love Endive (because it's green) and paw paw and squash (b/c it's yellow)
Good luck

i hand feed him about 5-8 crickets a day and he hunts for the ones running around is cage and gets the odd one.
i put apple, strawberry, cos lettuce and carrot in his cage and went over and had a good sniff of the strawberry but didn't eat any.
Dose it sound like he's getting enough? He poops daily in his water.

beautifuldragons.com is a great site, read it from back to front before getting my beardies (hi bek ).
My beardies are the same - straight for the squash, endive and/or bukchoy. Everything else is just second best

Then again, he is only young.. so hes probably only interesting in things that move and things that he can hunt at the moment

As long as you're feeding him as much as he can handle, I'm sure that he's fine koubee

Aww, yeh its cool, hes only a baby
I stressed so much when mine were that young and werent eating as much vegies as i thought they should be eating - and all for nothing really. They eat more vegies as they get older - just what ive noticed.

Ok, i squeezed the fruit in front of Loki and he just did the, i'm not interested thing, so i put it down on his lettuce leaf and about 5 mins later he was down chomping away at the lettuce, yes i know not to give him too much. I also offered him some of the frozen vegies (defrosted of course)and he loves them. Is it ok to feed him defrosted vegies like carrot, peas, and corn? He really enjoys it.
So excited he's eating his vegies.......

Goooood hes eating!
Its ok for him to have those (peas corn and carrot) occasionally (maybe once a week ?) but not as a vegie staple.
Even the once a week maybe questionable ?? Anyone ?

I keep barbata and they refuse to eat any vegetable matter. The only trick which has worked to date (for me) is to bag the crix, put them in the fridge for a few minutes until they are only just moving, then add the crix to a shallow dish of fruit n veg. The movement attracts the lizzies, and they eat the veg by mistake as they hoover up the crix. I find it only takes the crix a few minutes before they warm up and jump out of the feeding dish, so the window of opportunity is quite small. Even tried one of those remote controlled vibrating food dish thingys, but that was a waste of time and money.

We have a colony of barbata in our outside pit.....as soon as you put a plate of vegies down the barbata are the first to run down from the branch that they are on and hoe into them!!!
