Beardies Weight Question

2 beardie's - One has backbone showing right along back and tail the other doesnt
Is the one with the backbone showing thin? or the other one too fat?
Also do they need to go into brumation? Ive heard they loose weight and i think thinner one of the 2 will get sick.
What do I use to fatten up if you think he is too thin?

He sounds underweight. Pinky mice are good fatteners. Lots of vegies and some fruit. Try some dog/cat food. I wouldnt be putting him into brumation if he is underweight personally.

i went to a reptile vet with my friend last week and he said he doesnt recommend people let thier beardys hibernate, too much can go wrong with in experienced keepers.

lots of roaches, green beans and butternut pumpkin are also good fatteners, tehyre the reasons my 2 fat ladies are on a major diet.

Hi Grafton Chic, He is under weight as i havent been feeding a lot of live food. But he loves crickets and roaches. Not overly keen on pinkies, have only ever seen him lick them and leave them, then the girls grab them. Meal worms he loves, altho they are full of fat and not a lot of protein in there. When he is fed veges I mix the rep cal calcium with vitD and Herptivite............he is fine with that. Veges are usually buck choy or one of those chinese veges, carrots, sweet potato, snow pea sprouts, , corn, mushrooms, mint, basil, what ever basically i have in the fridge. It wont take him long to whack the weight back on.

Good luck Andrea, try giving him pinkie mice, they really fatten them up.
