I just started to slowly raise the temps last week, I offered food but both refused, I will have them at normal temps by the end of next week.

If you're worried about internal parasites then perhaps a dose of wormout for both of them with the feed would be an idea. You'll know failry soon after if worms were the problem or not as there'll be a heap of dead worms in the faeces. If that's all clear then...well I have no idea lol. Sorry, I suppose that's right up there with the "I don't know what the problem is but someone else will" posts, isn't it? But give the wormout gel a shot at least.

Thanks Lurk, I called the local vets today and they all admitted they had no idea about snakes, so if no one can shed some light on it tonight I might have to go for a drive tomorrow if I can get it off. At least he has settled down now and isn't biting for the time being.

Iv done a bit of research for you, looked in the text book too.. And I couldnt find squat!!!!!!! Only talked about canniballism and feed-related biting.. The only account of self biting was in rat snakes whose feed response can be so strong there are cases of them eating themselves tail first.. Not your problem either!!!! Asked a friend who suggested some sort of injury, but since its biting in different places this dosnt seem likely.. I JUST DONT KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You've stumped me JP2!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would "Guess" that there is nothing wrong with your snake, but it just smells something on itself that it wants to eat, after all, snakes arn't to smart but are highly instinctive (people often confuse the two) It may have something to do with breeding as well if it is a male. check and see if it is biting the same spot or a different spot, it's sure is a odd one.
