hey every1 just wondering does any1 cut their blueys nails?
if yes how do you know how far to cut them?cheers dazza

ive done it,


be careful!!!!! they squirm.



what i did was instead of lining it up then clamping down using normal human nail clipers, i lined it up and closed it to put enough pressure on it so that if they did move it would stay there.

i just took a little bit off so that it wasnt so sharp.

If you provide the right enclosure furniture like rocks, bricks, tiles etc you shouldn't need to trim their nails. However it's often a problem for lizards kept on smooth or soft surfaces like newspaper, clip the tips off them and put some things in there that they can climb over and wear down their nails by themselves.

they have a nice odd shaped rock that they climb over but i might buy some concrete pavers as well

Maybe fine sandpaper in one part of the enclosure? Glued to a tile.

I cut my stumpies toenails about once a year. They have rough rocks and logs but the nails still keep growing! I usually cut 1/4 to a 1/3 of the length but it depends how long they are. Really just taking the tip off.
