I have recently notice the scales on my two baby blue tongue are upturned and underneth them are these little black bugs. I have piked off hundreds of them and they just come back. Does any one know what they are and how they could have gotten into my cage. Also if its ok to just leave them. We also know its not ticks beacuse our old bluetongue had ticks and these look nothing lyk them
Thnxs

Mites can take a while to show up. It sounds like mites mate. Soak everything in hot water and spray lizards with T.O.D. Plenty of threads on here about it, just do a search.

Use Top of descent. Take the water bowl out. Seal up all gaps and spray the animals, subsrate and bedding. Are these your only reptiles? If not be carefull as mites will spread easily and it sounds like you have problems already. If they spread through your collection you will have problems.

They probably have them too, especially if you handle both of them. Treat them too. Much safer that way.

Wash all logs/branches gathered from the wild in a 1 pt bleach 4pts water solution to prevent it happening again or bake them in the oven for an hour at 200C. You can also transfer far more dangerous parasites into you enclosure so feel lucky it was only mites!
