Talking Bredli Enclosure Help

Hi There,

The time is getting nearer, only a month or so till i get my bredli, i'm so excited!!!

Anyways, just wondering what a good size enclouse would be, is 1200 x 1200 x 600 to small?
It seams pretty small, but not sure if i can find the room for a 1800 x 1200 x 600.

Please advise

Cheers
Anthony

That depends on the size of the snake.
How big is the sanke you are getting?

well will be either a yerling(or there abouts) or hatchling (or there abouts)

but
"I don’t keep any of my snakes in small enclosures. I try and keep them in reasonable sized enclosures compared to the size of the animal.

I am not a subscriber to the belief that having them in big enclosures stress them out. In my experience I have found quite the opposite. The small enclosures seem to stress them, compared with the large enclosures.

Thinking laterally about this, snakes are not confined in the wild to a very small area. Thus I try and provide a reasonable sized enclosure. But the main reason is to do with temperature.

The larger the enclosure the easier and more varied a thermal gradient that can be obtained. "
That is quoted from "And We Have It All", and it makes sense to me!

I mean will 1200 x 1200 x 600 be big enough for when it is fully grown?

That's up to you putting a small snake in there but from my limited experience your next post may be "i can't get it to eat" or " snake is stressed out".
You can only try though some people have good results, just make sure you have plenty of hides for it.

but a snake in the wild has millions of square hectares, and they seem fine! either that, or they slither into small glass enclosures to eat

no offence meant

Most of my customers like the big enclosures - imo a 1200 x 1000 x 600 is a great enclosure to have - but size is up to you.
I have seen people convert a room to house there snakes in.
So go as big as you want - bugger what anyone else thinks.

This size is what most customers are buying for Bredli, Diamonds, Carpet, etc - and these are snakes that get to over 8ft.
And some of the snakes are going in smaller enclosures then that.
Mines in a 1200 x 1000 x 440 so as I said it's up to you.

it will depend too largely on the snake and its habbits for anyone else to comment. I will be going with an enclosure about 1200x1000x600 because Savanna loves to spend quite a bit of time stretched right out and on her climbs...

i think you will just have to wait and see what the little fella wants to do.

That's why i said JMO!!!

How often do you see small snakes roaming the bush????Usually hiding and feeling vunerable!!
That's why i said add plenty of hides as in my experience the smaller they are the more they tend to hide in larger enclosures.
AGAIN JMO!! No offence either

You can not compare the wild to housing a animal in a box in your home.........
