Thumbs up Breeding Rats.

Well, ever since i got my snake my family have been obsesed with it, and my mum and brother r looking at buying a python for themselves and in a couple of months im gunna get another, my mum freaked at the cost of frozen food at the petshop and suggested that i brred my own food, and here it is my best mate has a pet RAT (i know, hes crazy) and im looking at buying his rat a girl so we can breed them for my snake(s) and i was wondering
Are pinky rats the same as pinky mice?
Are rats hard to breed?
When this gets going, will i just kill the rats when they reach a certain age/size to suit my snake?
What is the best way to kill them, Co2?
Could anyone give me tips, and any Rat breeding info?

Thanks.

I dont want to be pesimistic or anything but keeping and breeding rats can be very time consuming. As for ur questions

Are pinky rats the same as pinky mice?

Kind of but a bit larger

Are rats hard to breed?

They breed like rabits, they really do breed quickly.

CO2 is probably the best and most humane way to kill them but i dont know much about that.

Breeding rats isn't hard, but it does require a lot of cleaning up of stinky cages, water and all the rest that comes along with any animal. Also remember that you will have to have a big enough cage to suit how ever many rats you want to breed and another cage or cages for the mothers when there due to have there babies. Sometimes I think to myself it might be easier just to buy frozen lol as there are a lot of breeders on here that are heaps cheaper than the pet shop. When u decide to kill the rats is completely up to you and your needs (snakes needs). You can use Co2 if you want. Sounds horrible but we just brake there necks as it's very easy and quick. If you look on the Wiki part of this website there's whole thread about breeding rats. No pinki rats arn't the same as pinki mice, pinki mice are oviously smaller than pinki rats.
