its more size related than age,the yanks have bred them at 5 months of age, through power feeding the be jesus out of them,u wont need a termite mound, use a plastic tub with a hole cut out full of moist soil, and if the male is being aggressive to her u will notice, lol,he will aggressivle bite her ect, when there compatable, mating isnt excessivly rough,my pair are gentle as,oh and u said termite mound in your pit, your in sydney mate,i wouldnt be keeping ridgeys outside there mate, they dont come from your type of climate

mealworms arent a good feeder, high in fat, little nutrition and are a risk of impaction.
try roaches from herp shop, crickets are all right..
use calcium and vitamin rep cal suppliments.. a 4x2x2 should be alright (i'd recomend keeping them seperate) he means excessive feeding by giving htem all they want, all the time..
you should give them filling meals daily...

Hi Daniel
Richard is right Sydney is no place to keep ridgeys outdoors.
and yes a goanna could eat enough crickets (as a sole food) to be deemed as excessive.
You've gotta keep them warm and give them a hot spot, provide heating at night too.
Cheers
Steve

my pr are housed together all the time, with no issues, its always risky putting 2 together that dont know each other,im a believer in the keep in pairs or trios if possable, less risk if u keep in pairs,my cage is 5x2x2 fot, heated day and night, hot spot up to 70 degrees, thats on top level of a plyboard stack in there, they have to be able to get away from the heat,i feed mostly crickets, sometimes add woodies and locusts and a little dogfood and pinkys at times,i dont power feed them but with monitors, especially insectivores,if kept right they are bottomless pits that shouldnt get over weight if feed heaps,i find i cant feed them enough, lol, the male even ate 80 percent of the girls first clutch this season, got to both her clutches the year before to so in future he will be seperated at laying time, the bugger,i lost all my pics on my puter, dont ask but someone has restated to factory specs so everything was lost, but search the threads i have started or posted in,ive posted lots of pics

i keep them hot year round, but they sense there seasons still, but feed year round, they usually lay there first clutch in september, followed by another in october,a month later, daniel theres many different ways to keep them, some people cool them over winter,i choose to keep them hot,but they slow down abit anyways as the cool end temp is alot lower, mine live in a shed,my suggestion if u havnt already is get a back copy of an edition of reptiles australia, cant think of the issue right at the moment but it has an article on ridgeys in it,also a great one on gillens monitors in the same issue,i keep mine like the gillens article says, keeping them warm still over winter, but luike i saaid theres lots of different ways
