Breeding tip

Hi all shane here .From aussie_pythons In these times of High prices ,And designer snakes were albino,s,condro,s.And some of the different colour morfs that todays breeders are starting to produce.were a single reptile in some cases can cost anywere from hundreds to ten,s of thousands of dollars. And with the smaller clutch hatch rates that seem to be an excepted risk .And while I know some breeders beleave in letting things take there natural corse .And what i mean by that is that I know some breeders that dont like to interveen.that if any week hatchlings that for what ever reason is haveing trouble hatching for what ever .I my self try to save every Hatchling .And while I dont recamend those with limitted breeding exspearence try thisHeres a little breeding tip for those breeders that may have had hatchling,s some years .That have had just enought strength to pip the egg but look weak and in your veiw maynot go on to leave the shell. And we have all had one or two of them over the years. In situations were maybe your condros have laid say a clutch of 12 eggs and by the time they are ready to hatch say theres only 2 or3 viable eggs left. And when they begin to pip and stick there heads out only 2 are alive and one looks realy weak.the weak one has cut the egg but is haveing trouble opening its mouth and we have all had young like this. Well If you get the wider end of a tooth pic and some {Glucodin}eg;Pure Glucose energy powder. and dip the thickler end of the tooth pic into the glucodin untill you have a few grains and after cutting a small window in the weaker of the 2 young that are still alive just drop the glucodin into the embiotic fluid of the weaker of the 2 and it gives the hatchling a small boost in energy usually enought so that it can leave the shell.under its own power. Now I dont recamend novice breeders try this .Over the years this has helped me maitain the highest possible hatch rates. And as i said this is more for those that have had enought breeding exspearence to know how to interveen without introduceing a jerm into the embioyic fluid.Of corse dont just take my word .Ask your local vets if it is possible to do woth a try especialy when say you may have spent 20.000 on a pair of adult condros and youve got them to breed but most of the eggs failed and only 2 have cut and one looks that week he may not leave the shell. He may stick his head back in and then drown if you end up with one you you suffer a loss that year on your investment but hang on you only need to get one more to break even.in situations like that I say do what ever you can to get every one out you can regards shane

Good on you Shane and thanks for the tip.

Mate, have you also noticed the number of people asking for help choosing their first snake on here lately. I hope you have contacted them. Don't you still have some yearling Childrens?

That's a great tip Shane!

It's a shame I can't do that with my King Quail chicks that pip the egg and then give up.
