just curious about somr thing, ive heard people on here say there snakes arent eating as much because of the cooler temps, but if we keep their enclosures at a constant temp how do they know that it is getting colder outsie?

they wont notice days getting shorter if they have lights on a timer, unless you shorten the light hours. But yea, i think its because of the coller temps at the cool end

oh, i meant if they can see the outside world.
my snake has a red light on 24/7 and faces a window, so he'd notice day and night.
my lizards have bright lights, but if u get home late (i should get a timer) theyve both jumped out and found a dark corner,...regardless of how bright their tank is,...

| | | | Apparently (well according to some experts and their studies anyways), somewhere along their evolutionary trek, some snakes have gained the ability to sense the changes in barometric pressure brought on by seasonal changes and therefore have the ability to sense the changes in season no matter what artificial conditions they are being kept in (although maybe if an artificial barometric pressure was introduced, they would have no idea?). Having said all that though the majority of keepers don’t have total air-controlled rooms and then most of those who don’t, cool anyway by preference when they need to. So therefore you’ll find they’ll have a very good idea that winter is coming and that eating right now is not in their best interests. |

I don't think that the cooler outside temperature has really affected ziggy.
As her cage tempertures are:
During Day Time:
Hot End: Between 30º - 32º
Cool End: Between 26º - 28º
During Night Time:
Hot End: Beween 28º - 30º
Cool End: Between 24º - 26º

Gut-Axe, How would you create artificial barometric pressure? Put your reptile in a hyperbaric chamber, a decompression chamber? Maybe if I seal my wooden enclosure well, and stack books on it, the pressure will change inside.
