Calcium Addition

Hey guys and girls, I've been looking around the site for a few days and I hope you can help me with my question.

My girlfreind has a Diamond Python around 3 yrs old. She brought it at age 1 1/2 and was told by the seller to add in liquid form, calcium to the rats she feeds it. It is about six foot long and eats two medium rats every two weeks. Our problem is how do you get the liquified calcium into the dead/defrosted rat ?? We have tried syringe and can't seem to get the perscribed amount down the throat. We haven't been able to contact the seller to follow up on this.

Thanks very much for your time in reading this. I hope to have my own licence to be able to purchase soon to add to our growing creature family.

Al.

RE: Calcium Addition

What you need is a syringe with a needle so you can inject it straight in.

I don't know if i would be bothering with calcium supplementation for your diamond. The rats that you are feeding it should have sufficient quantities of calcium within them.

It is generally recommended that diamonds should be exposed to UVA/B. Although this (as far as i know) has not even been proven to be necessary.

RE: Calcium Addition

Snakes don't need any supplements if fed good quality whole animals as food. They get everything they need from those.
