| | | Childrens still not eating My childrens python is still not eating - it has been 3 weeks now . I have raised the hot end temp to 33 deg . She is still quite active and drinking (and even did a tour of the house 3 days ago the little scamp) .The smallest pinkies I can get are thawed and waved then dropped in her container and left for about 16 hours . Have tried heating them (using the clip bag method as suggested - thanks ) but she doesnt seem interested. She still poos about every 2 days I think and hasnt really skinnied up - thin neck and her bodys about 1 and 1/2 times thicker than her neck - looks normal to me.
should I be pricking the pinkies to let out some blood , rub some feathers on them , cut the pinkies up , offer her some chicken strips , pray to the voodoo gods.
Will she follow the biological imperitive for survival and eat eventually - Im sure this is probably quite common and Im just a bit paranoid...

I know you would prefure it to start feeding streight away, but it will when its ready.
Just keep offering a picking every 4 days, leave it in overnight and morning it will be gone. |

But 3 weeks is nothing to be to worried about , leave it alone , make sure it has hides , if it is big enough try offering rats rather than mice i had a very stubborn one once , that took a small pink rat after months of not eating |

My spotted will not eat unless i stay there and wiggle the damn mouse until she is ready to eat. i get it defrosted with boiling water the cool slightly with cold water so its still warm, then wiggle near her head.Sometime she strikes straight away sometimes she takes up to 15mins and i have to wiggle i`t for the whole time, she 's just testing me i think. What do u think she is pooing seeing that she hasnt eaten for 3 weeks. The breeder wasnt skarfing by anychance to fatten her up.I think a phone call to the breeder might answer a few Q? |

Do not try and feed too often - once a week at most, or you risk stressing the animal...
Leave it entirely alone until it starts feeding, try once a week, if it fails to eat try the same time the next week...snakes will go MONTHS without losing noticable condition...
As has been mentioned, pooing every two days is not normal for a snake that is eating regularly - let alone one not eating at all - I would watch this. If it continues I would take the snake to a Vet (with a sample of the poo) as it may be the result of worms or similar...

I was thinking the same. Get him seen to by the vet just to rule out any intermal problems.
