Most carpet snakes are arboreal so wouldn't hurt to give him both I don't own a MD but am working on it

I've only had mine for a little while, but she'll get up onto her ladder quite often. I think all the carpets enjoy climbing.

As above - lots of climbing branches and perches - they are known to frequent trees along watercourses within their range, but much or their range has been changed by clearing for agriculture.
