Have you tried it on freshly killed mice?
Maybe just apply some betadine to the cut, so it doesn't get infected and keep a close eye on it.

They are the dangers of live food.

You can use betadine on the wound to ensure that infection is kept at bay.

But if you are really concerned, see the Vet.

Just keep it all clean etc

May I ask why you are feeding live mice to your snake? Not only is it cruel but also its not legal and most important it is dangerous to your snake as you have just found out.If the betadine doesnt work best you take your snake to the vet asap before infection sets in.Not having a shot at you will.i.am but its a dangerous practice feeding live rodents to snakes.
Cheers odie

Try to get it over to frozen/thawed & worm the snake.

I recently bought an 18 month old diamond python that would only ever eat live mice. I got him in August and just decided not to feed him until late September. I then offered him a thawed mouse and he ate it. And has has eaten frozen since then as well. I am afraid that I can't accept that any snake will only eat live. Just like I wont eat brussel sprouts. But dont feed me for a couple of days and watch me tuck into them.

Your snake will be better off by not feeding him for a couple of months than he would be by risking his life with live food. sorry to be blunt. But he WILL eventually eat frozen.

I've read you should water down the betadine to a tea colour before applying it. A small cut shouldn't be a problem for your snake, you got lucky this time. I'm with everyone else here, STOP FEEDING LIVE FOOD!!!! There are many ways to get a snake to eat defrosted or freshly killed prey, do some research and try some of them out. I don't care if you take this as a personal attack (although thats NOT my intention, I'm just worried about your snake) putting live rodents in with your snake is cruel to both the rodent and the snake, especially if you weren't even watching to see what happened. Good luck, I hope you get it onto dead prey soon.
