Enclosure Floor

On this video, check out the bark covering the enclosure...I think it looks great but is it ok for the snake? I know you can use litter and paper but I like the natural look of the bark.

Thanks for any help.

hey there... I went to a reptile store to get my first bedding and the bark is a good bedding for snakes... but this bark comes in a brand called Zoo Med and is called ReptiBark... the bark that i use for my BHP. But the one that I use is smaller in size than whats in the video. Another good thing about using bark besides looking natural is that it really smells good (at least the one that I use which is 100% Fir bark)... and one last thing... if your reptile doesnt like humidity, you'll have to dry the bark first and then use it just to be on the safe side... well hope you found this info useful...

I have had problems in the past with the Zoo Med bark and bug infestations. From my experience, when it gets wet, little bugs (not mites) appear everywhere. I had tried sterilizing it, but to no avail. If you can use it with no probs, then that's great! There was another brand (Four Paws I think) that heat treated their bark, and I had less problems.
Personally, I now have been using aspen. It is easier to see poops, so it is easier to spot clean. Plus, for the price, it lasts much much longer than the bark.

Just because a pet store employee told you it was good, does not mean that it's correct..... But again, if you have no problems, super fantastic!
