Enclosure Sealant?

Hi all,
Just looking for a bit of advise. I have cut through the internal wall of some 2 foot enclosures to make a 4 foot enclosure and I now have some exposed timber (melamine). What can I use to seal the exposed parts with? I have some Bondcrete but I'm not sure if It is all right to use on the internal part. I don't want to use the iron on melamine. Is there any other product anyone else has any experience with?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am picking up my first python (a Bredli) on Saturday.
Thanks

You could use a Aqaurium grade silicon they also make it in white it takes about 24 hours to go off properly but will be touch dry alot sooner.

100% clear silicone for sealing joints, if you want to seal edges with a clear paint on product, use WATER based polyurethane sealant.

Thanks guys but it's not an edge or a join I need to seal, it's the raw board where I cut through which is exposed. Approx 20mm all the way around.

Several coats of poly will do the trick. If it's MDF, it will take a few coats as the finish will soak in quite a bit but it will seal up nice. Just make sure it's water based, NOT oil based. Cheers.

Thanks Pete, Just got online to have a look at this Sikaflex. Any idea which one? It seems to come in 6 different types. Where do you get it? I assume just a hardware store.

You can buy the melamine edging tape from a hardware shop it's about 15 bucks for 22 metres. . This tape is the same as it already has on it. It is put on the edge with heat
