They don't need any artificial UV lighting or natural UV from the sun as all the calciums they need are fed to them through the use of adult rodents (grown bones, nutrients etc). Taking them outside is totally up to the owner. However UV lighting either artificial or natural would benefit the snake but it is not completely necessary for their existance in captivity. My aniamls recieve no UV lighting artificial or natural & seem to be thriving.

Diamond Pythons are the exception & should recieve several hours a week of natural sunlight imo. Although it is not conclusive that lack of UV is related to DPS I feel it better to be safe than sorry.

It depends on you and the snake...if the snake isn't stressed out and is relatively warm i dont see that there is a problem

Well that's very interesting to read because I intend to handle my snakes as much as possible. I don't think I'll go with this 'minumum handling to reduce stress' thing.
My theory (although not tested or tried as yet) is that if you constantly handle your pet from a young age (ofcourse, not when shedding, unhealthy or recently eaten) it will grow accustomed to be out of its enclosure on a daily basis and so will not get stressed and can enjoy being out for large periods of time.

Well when you look at how much they walk around with the sankes at Australia Zoo, I would say it's pretty hard to "over handle" the snake.
