Feeding gravid pythons?

Will a gravid python eat? And if she does can it do her any harm?

Thanks

They will normally refuse. It could possibly result in egg binding, so i wouldn't try it.

I was hoping you wouldn't say that. She took a fresh killed in a second. How would I know if she was egg bound? Thanks for your help.

Correct me if I am wrong, I have never bred pythons before, but MrBredli, you meant egg binding as in the eggs will stick together right? So there is no way of knowing this until she lays her eggs...?

They have mated - I went onto the snake ranch link and read the info on gravid pythons. She has been basking with tummy up, not totally upside down just sections. I also did that ovulation test they had on there (which she did as they had mentioned). She shed just over 2 weeks ago - if it was a pre-lay shed she will be due any day. This is my first mating, they are Water pythons. I just thought she would refuse the food if she didn't want it.
Maybe she isn't gravid.

They will still feed in the early stages of being gravid. How long ago was this mating? It may not have been the pre lay shed. Pics would help to say whether she is gravid or not.

Maybe she isn't gravid.
I thought it was 30 - 36 days after the pre-lay that she will drop her eggs ????

Definately not the early stages. We are moving house and things are really hectic. (I couldn't even find the camera, packed in a box somewhere). That is why I decided to feed them all before they were moved. Odessa brought me in some fresh killed, they all fed including her. I hope I haven't stuffed things up.

Sorry, when I said they mated it was well over a month ago. She had her pre-lay shed (if it was a pre-lay shed) on the 3rd. I just re-read your post. OK I thought it was 3 weeks. Can somebody please clarify. I am getting more stressed by the minute

I would not go as far as to saying you have stuffed up. As mentioned earlier she'll know what shes doing. From what your describing i would be preparing for some eggs.
